The creators of "The Witcher" series, CD Projekt Red, have successfully created a collectible card game that was first introduced in "The Witcher 3" called "Gwent." In fact, the developers are looking to release a brand new campaign mode that details the story behind the beloved card game. The title of the upcoming single-player campaign is "Thronebreaker." Unfortunately, fans will have to wait until next year before they can experience it.

According to the International Business Times, CD Projekt Red co-founder, Marcin Iwinsky, stated that the developers decided to delay "Thronebreaker" due to some last minute changes that they had to implement regarding the "game's roadmap." Additionally, Iwinsky also stated that the development team has decided to put on more content for players, and has even promised that the game will be much better because of the delay.

In a report by PC Games N, "Thronebreaker" was set to be the first story campaign for the game. CD Projekt Red previously promised that it would be delivering multiple stories as the game goes on, which is something that fans were excited about given the company's ability to create compelling stories in "The Witcher" series. At the same time, this is exactly what makes the delay more disappointing for the fans of the collectible card game.

However, the delay is not without good reason. "Thronebreaker" has been promised to offer players an estimated 15 hours of gameplay, and will be featuring the character Meve. In the lore of "The Witcher," Meve is one of the rulers from the North, who led a band of militia soldiers against the Nilfgaardian forces. The books from which "The Wither" games are based on touches on this story with great detail, and fans will soon get to experience it as well.

It is important to note that CD Projekt Red plans on lifting the beta testing phase in 2018, which fits well with the delay of "Thronebreaker." According to VG 24/7, fans should remember that "The Witcher 3" was struck by multiple delays as well. In the end, it became one of the most acclaimed video game titles in recent years.
