"H1Z1" has had its rough years in early access. With the game's official release, finally, things may start changing as developer Daybreak Game Company is making some big changes to the game. It is not much about gameplay but rather making the game itself for free. Plus, a pro-league has already been set in the next month.

Of course, the first ones to react are those who bought the game. It cost $19.99 but according to Polygon, general manager Anthony Castoro mentions that players who have bought the game can request for a Steam refund. However, this only applies to players who have not bought the game past 14 days and has only played for less than two hours.

As for those who are no longer eligible for the refund, fret not, as the game will give players some bonuses. In fact, players will get skins and other items that are worth twice the price of the game and even more.

The developers have also announced that they have found 15 teams for its very first H1Z1 Pro League. This was originally announced back in October last year but not many thought it to be actually happening. It is set on Apr. 21, 2018 and will be held in Las Vegas and will also be streamed on Facebook.

These two big changes to the franchise came after a report surfaced about the declining concurrent users for the game. It had reached around 14,000 by the end of February but only around 10,000 in the past few days prior to the announcement, per SteamCharts. However, Castoro also mentioned that there are still some good points to consider. In the last week, they had double the number of unique players logging into the game.

Whether "H1Z1" will survive in the next years is something that gamers will just have to see. For now, players can always give it a chance since the game is free-to-play now after all.
