'Half-Life 3' release date, specs: New image related to the game?

"Half-Life" official website

A newly leaked image that supposedly has ties to "Half-Life 3" is yet again giving eager gamers hope that the game could still be coming in the near future.

The image in question is that of a robot present in "Half-Life 2" that goes by the name Dog, according to Design and Trend. Interestingly enough, after some intrepid online sleuths decided to go through the older game's files in an attempt to see the image, they did not find it. In addition, it also looks as though the image was made using Source Engine 2, which coincidentally is Valve's current design suite.

All of this is to say that the leaked image doesn't appear to be from the old game, and is at the very least being made to look like it is an all-new creation.

Another interesting detail involves a person who says he is Minh Le, formerly of "Counter-Strike," suggesting that the image came from "Half-Life 3" and that it was made sometime between March and April of 2014.

The person claiming to be Le added that there would be more news about "Half-Life 3" coming out before the end of 2015.

It is worth noting that the individual claiming to be Le had no actual proof indicating he was indeed who he said he was, and that the leaked image itself has not been verified by anyone who would be officially connected to "Half-Life 3."

As of now, the image that supposedly came from "Half-Life 3" is just about the only indicator that the game could be coming out soon.

According to Movie Pilot, Valve is not exactly prioritizing the release of "Half-Life 3," and that though there are at least some people working on the game, it is still not likely to be released any time in the immediate future.

Unfortunately for a lot of players, there appears to be no real official word on when they might be able to expect "Half-Life 3."
