There will be a new "Half-Life" to be released next month. However, the upcoming title is not the much-awaited and largely rumored "Half-Life 3."

Instead of the next main sequel, the upcoming "Half-Life"-related title is dubbed "Prospekt." According to Game Informer, the title is a direct sequel to "Borderlands" developer Gearbox Software's first expansion pack for the franchise, "Half-Life: Opposing Force."

Since this is a direct sequel, players will take on the role of Adrian Shepard, the main character for the "Opposing Force" expansion. The new title will take players through 13 new levels with fully scripted puzzles and action sequences. In addition, game itself plays and meshes with the events happening in the main story sequel, "Half-Life 2." The industry follower mentioned that according to "Prospekt" creator Richard Seabrook, the game will be a stand-alone title but would still be comparable both in gameplay and story length to "Half-Life 2: Episode One."

Meanwhile, although "Prospekt" is only a fan-made mod title for the "Half-Life" franchise, the game received approval from franchise creator Valve. According to Tech Radar, the gameplay, design, interface, and the parallel story of "Prospekt" has been officially recognized by Valve, and all of the licenses and assets used in the game are as close to the franchise as possible.

Acknowledging the approval, Seabrook wrote on the "Prospekt" Steam page, "I can't thank you all enough for voting this through on Greenlight and helping me get to this stage. Without you all I really wouldn't be writing this out today. Also, a massive thanks to Valve for their support. I've got lots of work ahead of me to get the game as great as possible for you all so I'm going to crack on with that as soon as possible."

"Prospekt" is already available for pre-order for a discounted price of $8.99 and will launch its full version for $9.99 on Steam on Feb. 11.
