"Harry Potter" fans all around the world found themselves in an alarming situation after a recent British robbery. The incident ended with a rare and valuable "Harry Potter" prequel stolen and the police are reaching out to the fans for help in reclaiming J.K. Rowling's creation.

According to an appeal issued by the West Midlands Police, the "Harry Potter" prequel is anything but ordinary. Rowling had written the 800-word prequel on two sides of an A5 postcard that was purchased in order to help raise funds for a charity. The investigating officer Paul Jauncey hopes that the appeal will reach "Harry Potter" fans worldwide.

"The only people who will buy this unique piece are true Harry Potter fans. We are appealing to anyone who sees, or is offered this item for sale, to contact police," said Jauncey.

The "Harry Potter" prequel features a scene with the characters Sirius Black and James Potter who are cornered by policemen after an intense motorcycle chase. According to Reuters, the prequel concluded with the two troublemakers escaping by using magic. The prequel was auctioned at roughly $32,100, based on current exchange rates.

The news reached the "Harry Potter" author who took to Twitter to help spread the word to fans all around the world.

"PLEASE DON'T BUY THIS IF YOU'RE OFFERED IT. Originally auctioned for @englishpen, the owner supported writers' freedoms by bidding for it," posted Rowling.

The post has since been retweeted for a little over 7,400 times. The appeal letter issued by the police was also posted on social media.

Although the "Harry Potter" prequel surely brought enough money for charity, Rowling never released it as part of her fictional and magical universe. The first novel of the series, titled "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone," was published in 1997 and was quickly followed by six more books. "Harry Potter" was a huge success for Rowling and the movies never failed to garner millions from the box office.
