Niantic, the company behind the augmented-reality game "Pokemon Go," has announced their new project. The team will be working on a Harry Potter-themed augmented reality game, and fans of the "Harry Potter" franchise and the boy who lived have been ecstatic ever since it the announcement.

According to BBC News, players of the augmented-reality "Harry Potter" game would use their smartphones to find magical beasts in real-world locations, similar to "Pokemon Go" the encounters with the creatures would take place in areas such as neighborhoods, supermarkets, and more. Once the players ran into these magical beasts, they would then have to battle them.

Niantic created a blog post about their upcoming game. The game will be titled "Harry Potter: Wizards Unite" and will be co-developed by entertainment company Warner Bros. Aside from merely duking it out with all sorts of magical beasts, players will also get the chance to learn some of the iconic spells from the books and movies. They will also be able to team up with fellow wizards and face off against more powerful foes together. Niantic mentioned that the game would use the same platform that "Pokemon Go" used, but that this time, they would also try to pioneer new technology and gameplay mechanics.

The blog post was made on Nov. 8, and ever since then, fans of "Harry Potter" have been rejoicing.

No specific release dates have been given yet, but "Harry Potter: Wizards Unite" will reportedly hit mobile screens sometime in 2018. Excited fans can check Niantic's Website for updates regarding the game and its progress.
