'Hemlock Grove' season 3 spoilers: Characters to be killed off for 'satisfying end'

Netflix

"Hemlock Grove" season 3 finale officially ends the Netflix horror series and premiered this past Oct. 23. Reviews have started pouring in, with a report from IGN calling it not only the darkest but also the most depressing season thus far while also emphasizing it is these traits that let the series end on a high note.

Season 3 introduces two major new characters: Annie Archambeau played by Camille De Pazzis and private investigator Isaac Ochoa played by Alex Hernandez. As pointed out by IGN, Annie leaves less of an impact than Ochoa but it is cited that the latter is given more interesting things to do in the season due to his interaction with Olivia (Famke Janssen).

It is also pointed out that several main characters are taken out of the picture in the season 3 finale, leading to what can be perceived as the darkest tone seen yet in the series. However, instead of the deaths merely being added in just for effect, the report points out that they lead to a more cohesive story compared to that from season 1 and 2.

While some reviews are praising the final season for the darker decisions it took, a report from Hypable states that some of the deaths in the finale were disappointing in execution. This sentiment is shared by several other major critics as the show's current Rotten Tomatoes score sits at 38 percent, although this rating only includes the first two seasons. It is likely this rating will increase when the official reviews for season 3 have been accounted for.

While some plotlines were left often, season 3 will be the show's official end. It was reported last year by TVLine that Netflix has officially cancelled the series and that season 3 would mark the end for "Hemlock Grove."

All three seasons of "Hemlock Grove" are currently available via Netflix.
