Hillsong gears up for annual conference

One week before World Youth Day, tens of thousands of Christians from across generations, denominations and cultures will gather at Sydney's Acer Arena for the annual Hillsong Conference which runs from 7 - 11 July.

The weeklong event draws people from churches all over Australia and up to 70 other nations, and together they represent a collective force that is dedicated to bringing love, grace and solutions to world problems.

Tim Costello, Chief Executive of World Vision Australia, will welcome the conference delegates as part of the opening night celebrations.

"This year the conference more than ever before is focused on providing practical tools to churches and leaders to more effectively make a positive difference in their local community and the world," Brian Houston, Senior Pastor of Hillsong Church said.

"There is great strength in the Church coming together, and it makes a powerful statement to our city and nation that the Church of Jesus Christ is alive and strong!"

Several themes overarch the conference including a call to justice, uniting the generations and building strong local churches that are helping bring answers, hope and a sense of community for people.

With sought-after Christian speakers, including Joyce Meyer and Joseph Prince taking the platform at this year's conference, as well as many other special guests and music artists, it is set to be a powerful week of worship, community and connection.

The conference is divided into three main streams: Pastors and Church Leadership, Worship and Creative Arts and Evangelism and Community Action. In the afternoons, the conference breaks out into electives and practical workshop sessions.
