When "Homeland" returns for its fifth season, the series will feature a time jump and see Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) no longer working for the CIA now serving as head of security for what appears to be a philanthropic organization run by wealthy German businessman Otto During (Sebastian Koch).

The fifth season of the Showtime series is set in Berlin, where Carrie tries to make a new life for herself and her daughter Franny. But in the premiere, Carrie's idyllic life is shaken when a request from Otto thrusts her back into the life she left behind.

Here is the synopsis for episode 1 titled "Separation":

"Season 5 begins with Carrie building a new life in Berlin, almost two years after the embassy attack in Islamabad. But her peace is threatened when a request from her boss forces her back into the dangerous life she left behind."

After all that she has experienced, Carrie will be seeking a higher power when the series returns this Sunday. According to the New York Post, Carrie will be turning to her faith in the premiere and is seen receiving communion in church as she contemplates everything that she has done for the CIA while fighting the war on terror.

This season, she will also be more confident as a mother and will be doting on her daughter Franny. Aside from working for Otto, season 5 will see Carrie going through her daily routine as a mom, which include taking her daughter to school and hosting a party for Franny's friends.

As for her romantic life, all seems well for Carrie and her new live-in boyfriend Jonas Hollander (Alexander Fehling). Aside from being her new man, Jonas is also Carrie's co-worker. He isemployed as a lawyer at the During Foundation.

"Homeland" premieres on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 9 p.m. on Showtime.
