Houston Rockets NBA news: Rajon Rondo to replace Patrick Beverly

As far as Rajon Rondo is concerned, the only team that has shown interest are the Los Angeles Lakers.

Thanks to Kobe Bryant, Rondo could fill up the Lakers' void at the point though it will still depend on the deal that Rondo would be asking from them.

But now there is a looming new player in the Rondo sweepstakes which are the Houston Rockets. If both the Rockets and the Dallas Mavericks can come to terms, there could be a possible Rajon Rondo for Patrick Beverly swap happening soon. Such could be a win-win scenario and eventually waylay any plans the Lakers had of acquiring the former Boston Celtic guard.

Rondo is not expected to return to Dallas while Patrick Beverly has been questionable.

Beverly has been saddled with injuries and was hardly any help during the NBA playoffs. He has long been rumored to be on the way out and it looks like Chandler Parsons is pitching to recruit his former teammate in Houston.

Acquiring Beverly could fill in the hole the Mavericks currently have with Rondo expected to depart.

On the other end, the Rockets get a chance to acquire a legitimate guard and a battle-tested veteran who could help out James Harden and Dwight Howard heading into next season.

But the question is whether the Rockets can accommodate Rondo.

The Rockets are not exactly flexible as far as their salary cap is concerned thus placing them in practically the same predicament as the Lakers. How much will Rondo ask?

NBA Free Agency is still a month away so expect more rumors and developments on how this possible Texan swap could materialize. Both teams stand to benefit but the Rockets may have another team to worry about – the Los Angeles Lakers – as far as hooking up Rondo in case they can afford his asking salary.
