The Texans come into today's game on the verge of claiming the AFC South title. They will likely have to start Branden Weeden over Brian Hoyer today, as they attempt to claim a fourth straight win over the Tennessee Titans, who will have to replace the injured Marcus Mariota with Zach Mettenberger.

If the 7-7 Texans win or tie today, and Indianapolis lose to the Miami Dolphins then Houston will be guaranteed the division title. That's an amazing turnaround for the Texans fans, after they watched their team open the season 1-4.

Both Hoyer and Yates are out, with Yates suffering a torn ACL last week in the game against the Colts. Yates' injury saw the newly signed Weeden come on to put on 11 of 18 for 105 yards and a touchdown as the Texans won 16-10 against Indianapolis.

Weeded has said about his preparations for today's game, "My confidence and my timing is just not what it needs to be. That is kind of to be expected. I haven't thrown any of those routes to any of those guys, so that just comes with time."

About last week's game against the Colts, he added, "I thought as the game went on the communication got better. I think I settled down and started really communicating and getting guys lined up. There is a couple of throws I would like to have back, but like I said, just uncertainty of timing and just getting a better feel for it.''

Earlier this week on Saturday night, the NFC East division was all but concluded, with the Washington Redskins defeating the Philadelphia Eagles to confirm themselves as division champions.

The Redskins clinched the division title, and with it a postseason spot, with a comfortable 38-24 win. Their appearance in the Playoffs this season will be their first since the 2012 season, and comes as a surprise as not many had predicted the Redskins would take the NFC East at the start of the season.

The result means the 8-7 Redskins will play a home Playoff game against the No. 5 seeded team in the NFC. At the moment that would mean a match up against the Seattle Seahawks, which would be a massive challenge as they have made huge strides in the second half of the season and at the moment look like one of the most dangerous teams in the league.

If the results in the coming few weeks shake things up more though, then the Redskins could get a game against the 9-5 Minnesota Vikings, which is another daunting prospect for Washington. However, at the moment the Redskins may just want to enjoy the fact that they're back in the postseason and whoever it turns out they face, what will be will be.

Kirk Cousins has been one of the core reasons the Redskins have managed to surprise people this season, and he has played above everyone's expectations. On Saturday night he completed 31 of 46 throws for 365 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions.

At the start of the season, the Redskins suffered poor form through their opening six games. During that period, Kirk Cousins threw eight interceptions, where as in the nine games since he threw just three.

They will need the new improved Kirk Cousins if they are to make an impact in the Playoffs.
