After months of speculations, HTC has finally confirmed the arrival of its latest mid-range smartphones, the HTC Desire 12 and Desire 12 Plus. While the features of these newly-unveiled gizmos match the description of an affordable and mid-tier handset, the HTC Desire 12 boasts an impressive edge-to-edge display with 18:9 screen-to-body ratio, making it look like more of a premium device rather than an entry-level one.

As reported by Android Headlines, the HTC Desire 12 and Desire 12 Plus are the latest offerings from HTC's mid-range Desire collection. The highlight of the smartphones is the almost all-screen display with the screen nearly wrapping the front from one edge to another. The Desire 12 and Desire Plus sport a taller appearance, thanks to its 18:9 aspect ratio.

The HTC Desire 12 Plus sports a 6-inch IPS screen and is powered by Qualcomm's latest high-end mobile processor, the Snapdragon 845. The Plus variant also boasts 3GB of RAM and a dual-lens rear camera setup, which is a combination of a 13-megapixel and 2-megapixel shooters. Just below the camera module, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner can be found. Per Trusted Reviews, this is almost the same configuration as that of Google Pixel 2. The HTC Desire 12 Plus runs the latest Android 8.0 Oreo update out of the box.

On the other hand, the regular HTC Desire 12 variant features a 5.5-inch IPS display with slighlty less powerful chipset. The handset includes MediaTek 6739 processor, along with 3GB of RAM. Unlike the Desire 12 Plus's dual rear camera, the regular one has a 13-megapixel single-lens snapper. The smartphone also does not have the Plus variant's rear-positioned fingerprint reader, although the device is pre-installed with the Android 8.0 Oreo version.

There is no information regarding the exact date of shipping of the HTC Desire 12 and Desire 12 Plus units to other markets worldwide. As the company made the announcement in the United Kingdom, it is possible that the handset will be distributed in the country and nearby European locations soon. Of course, the Desire 12 is expected to become available first in HTC's country of origin, Taiwan.
