Although Google has yet to come out with confirmed details on its next flagships, speculations on the 2016 editions of the Nexus lineup are already making their rounds online. The latest rumors say that the new flagships will be on par with other recent releases like the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

According to BGR, the supposed specs of the 2016 Nexus – to be reportedly made by HTC – have surfaced on benchmark websites. Supposedly, one of the flagships, dubbed as the HTC Sailfish, has passed by benchmark website AnTuTu and the specs listed are on par with flagship-level iterations like the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Much like Samsung's newest release, the 2016 Google Nexus flagship is listed with a Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage. In addition, the 2016 Nexus will reportedly feature full HD display, a 13MP main shooter, and an 8MP selfie camera at the front.

The specs listed is for the HTC Sailfish, dubbed to be the smaller of the two 2016 Nexus iterations. It will supposedly come out with a 5.2-5.3-inch display, while the other HTC-made 2016 Nexus, dubbed as Marlin, will sport a 5.5-inch screen.

Should the specs list for the 2016 Nexus iterations prove true, one advantage of the new flagship is that it will run with Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box. However, in terms of specs, the Galaxy Note 7 may still come out on top, particularly if Samsung pushes through with a global release of its China-exclusive premium edition. Although the premium variant may still come out with a Snapdragon 820 chipset, it will feature 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage.

It is expected that the 2016 Google Nexus lineups will debut before the year ends, most probably by October.
