HTC One M10 rumor: Next premium handset to carry Android 6.1?

It has been rumored that HTC is planning to release at least two flagships for 2016. One of them, the One M10, is also rumored to be an introductory device for the upcoming Android 6.1 update.

While Google still has to confirm if an Android 6.1 is in the works (the current update is 6.0.1), industry observers are already predicting that HTC will make its main flagship the introductory device for Android 6.1.

Recently, HTC launched the One A9 as an introductory device for Android 6.0, and the unit came with the new Android platform right out of the box. According to Android Community, HTC may be planning to do the same with the One M10 launch.

The industry follower also added that aside from Android 6.1, HTC will also be launching the One M10 with a new version of its homegrown interface. Reportedly, the One M10 will come outfitted with Sense 8.0 UI, addition to other new features like a fingerprint sensor, wireless charging, and a USB Type-C port.

Meanwhile, as some observers have already stated that an Android 6.1 version is inevitable (based on the previous Lollipop, which also came out with a 5.1 version), the upcoming platform version's release date may also give HTC fans a hint on when to expect the One M10. Previous reports said that the One M10 may arrive early next year, April at the earliest.

However, Google still has to announce a release window for succeeding Android Marshmallow versions, and seeing that the update is still on 6.0.1, the expected Android major update might be launched in the middle of 2016 instead. This release window dovetails with the speculations that the One M10 will be launched in the middle of 2016.
