Taiwanese manufacturer HTC was the first company to announce that the new Android 5.0 Lollipop is bound for its devices in February.

According to HTC, the latest and newly-released Android 5.0 Lollipop will arrive to its mid-range and premium smartphones within 90 days after its release. Thus, the new mobile software will arrive not only to top-of-the-line HTC One M8 and M7, but also to lower grade smartphones.

In the past, HTC delivered the new Android OS updates to its devices weeks after its release. However, the delay this time is due to the fact that Google did not roll out the preview OS update to mobile manufacturers, unlike what it did for Android developers. HTC and other companies will be able to make their respective customizations as well as skins after Google delivers the goods to them.

Android 5.0 Lollipop was announced on Oct. 15 alongside the Google Nexus 6 smartphone and the HTC Nexus 9 tablet, which are the first devices to get the sweet taste of Lollipop OS. Next in line would be other Nexus devices, which reportedly will receive the update in a couple of weeks. Motorola devices are also expected to have the new Android OS soon since it only has few customizations.

Android Lollipop has a "new design language" which id dubbed as Material Design. The new design is way cleaner and it has a new set of navigation buttons, specifically a triangle, a circle and a square.

The mobile software will also have new features such as improved notifications, lockscreen, multi-tasking, notification bar, and better battery. The new OS will also greatly improve the security of the new devices as it will enable users to unlock their smartphone when they're physically near enough to a device like an Android Wear smartwatch. Thus, users will be able to open their devices without the need to enter a password.
