It has been rumored for a while that HTC is preparing for the launch of its next-generation flagship handset this year. Recently, it was confirmed by the Taiwanese tech manufacturer itself that a new high-end device is arriving this May. Based on the speculations, this upcoming smartphone is none other than the HTC U12, which is believed to introduce groundbreaking features in the company's U series.

As reported by Tech Radar, HTC has posted an intriguing photo on its UK and international-based Twitter accounts. The image has a description that says "Coming Soon. A phone that is more than the sum of its specs," and while there are no specific details regarding the handset in question, it is believed that HTC is talking about the U12 smartphone.

HTC confirmed on the Twitter post that the suspected U12 smartphone will be officially unveiled on May 23. Until that date, the public is likely to not hear any major information regarding the device's new features. Although, if the previous reports are anything to go by, the HTC U12 is expected to boast superior AI capabilities. It is rumored that HTC has focused on making its next flagship smartphone more competitive in terms of AI functions, although the HTC U12 is likely to keep a somewhat similar design with its predecessor, the U11.

Another possible highlight of the HTC U12 is its powerful camera technology. The smartphone is tipped to boast a total of four cameras, with a dual-lens combo for each of the front and rear-positioned snapper. Earlier, the popular tech tipster Evan Blass from VentureBeat predicted that the HTC U12 will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, the latest high-end chip already used in the previously-launched gizmos such as the Samsung Galaxy S9.

Furthermore, the HTC U12 is expected to have 6GB of RAM under the hood, with internal storage options of 64GB and 128GB. There is also a possibility of expandable storage capacity with a microSD card slot.
