HTC Vive VR headset goes on tour; Gamers to have virtual gaming experience

The virtual reality wars is heating up, and one of the contenders is planning to make a global jaunt to give its VR headset an edge over the competition. 

Tech giant HTC has announced that its upcoming Vive virtual reality headset is going on a major tour, to let fans of virtual gaming and observers to get a first-ever jump into a truly immersive gaming experience. 

The world tour for the Vive VR headset has already made its starting point at the recently-concluded San Diego Comic-Con, and will be adding more venues as the weeks progress. According to the announcement at the official HTC blog, the world tour will also involve choice cities and venues across the United States and in Europe. 

After the San Diego Comic-Con, the tour will stop next at the Forecastle Festival in Louisville, which is an invite-only event on July 17-19; Navy Pier in Chicago on July 21-23; Kansas City on July 25-28; The Internationale in Seattle on Aug. 2-8; and at the annual Gamescom event in Cologne, Germany on Aug. 5-9. 

The tour will then go back to U.S. shores on Aug. 13-16 in San Francisco and Aug. 20-23 at Portland. The Vive VR headset will then make an appearance at the PAX Prime in Seattle on Aug. 28-31. The final leg of the tour will occur in Europe, at the IFA in Berlin on Sept. 4-9 and Paris Games Week on Oct. 28-Nov. 1. 

Although the dates and locations have been announced, HTC also mentioned that the schedule are subject to change, and advises fans to monitor future updates about the tour. 

The HTC Vive VR headset first made its appearance at this year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and is one of the many peripherals vying in the VR market. Other VR headsets set to be unveile some time soon include Sony's Project Morpheus and the Oculus Rift.
