Chinese company Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. launched its new Honor 7 in the market last month, followed by the recent release of its Huawei G8 handset.

Huawei Ascend Mate 7 successor coming soon?Huawei

Now a new video has surfaced confirming the Chinese company's plans to release the new successor to the Ascend Mate 7 handset, which was released back in September of last year. The new video also confirms the new phone will sport a fingerprint scanner on the back, and will be covered by a metal build, according to Pocket-Lint.

In terms of the specifications, the Huawei Mate 8 is expected to sport a 6 inch display screen, like its predecessor, with a 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution, and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. It will have a very strong 21.7 mega pixel primary camera and an 8 mega pixel front-facing camera.

The Mate 8 will run on the new Android 5.1 version Lollipop (OS) operating system and will be powered by Huawei's own HiSilicon Kirin 950 quad-core processor. In addition, it is rumored to pack a 3GB RAM/4GB RAM and up to 32GB/64GB built-in memory storage. How powerful the battery will be still remains unclear as of this time.

According to GSM Arena, the Huawei Mate 8 was rumored to be announced and released sometime within the third quarter of this year, possibly during the upcoming IFA 2015 event that will take place in Berlin, Germany.

Softpedia, on the other hand, claims that the Mate 8 might not even make it this year, and that the Chinese company might plan to release the phone sometime by next year. However, nothing has been confirmed yet so this all should be taken with a grain of salt.

In addition, Softpedia adds that if the Mate 8 will not make its way at this year's event, Huawei might be planning to unveil a new variant of last year's Ascend Mate 7 instead, called the "Ascend Mate 7 Plus".
