The tech giant revamped its iMac fleet just last year and now there are rumours of a brand new iMac which will supposedly release in 2016. With the last quarter closing in, its unclear if that will actually happen. Perhaps Apple will release the new and improved iMac after the proposed iPhone 7 which is scheduled for September 2016.

The changes that Apple introduced in the past to its iMac range have been more about the software and internal hardware, with very little changing on the outside. However, this time the company is all set to bring about revolutionary changes on the exterior of its iMac. It also remains to be seen if Apple replaces the USB ports with USB C ports like it has been doing with its other products.

It is being speculated that since the iMac will be revealed in times which are seemingly moving in the direction of Virtual Reality, Apple might be eyeing the latest AMD Polaris 10 processors for its iMac. In that case, the iMac would be VR enabled and woud create a sensational experience especially when it comes to gaming. 

Meanwhile, it is also worth pondering upon Cook's recent statements where he claimed that Apple is gradually eliminating the need for laptops and PCs. Why then would Apple still expect people to invest in an iMac, when they could have the same specs with the portability of a notebook or tablet?

So how many Apple customers are ready to compromise on the portability and feather light features of the ProBook for instance and the range of Apple iPads? Especially in the wake of the rumoured release of iPad Air 3, its is unclear why someone would get all excited about subtle changes to the design of an Apple PC when they could just buy a powerful ultra-portable tablet instead.
