The reviews are out for the new movie "In Between," which received overwhelming praise from critics who generally agreed that female director Maysaloun Hamoud did an outstanding job showing the lives of three Israeli-Palestinian women in the modern world.

The drama, directed by Hamoud, received an impressive 98 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is a site that aggregates review scores from various entertainment sources. Here are what some of the reviewers had to say.

Elizabeth Weitzman from TheWrap expressed, "Hamoud deftly mixes both the intimate and the enormous throughout, endowing vibrantly-shot, slice-of-life storytelling with an often wrenching depth."

Bilge Ebiri from Village Voice stated, "That lived-in quality to the performances and milieu serve the film well. That combined with Hamoud's unhurried, restrained visual style allows for tension, emotion, and meaning to build together."

Linda Marric from HeyUGuys wrote, "Creating a beautifully atmospheric, and at times, dazzling world around the women, Hamoud does a commendable job in allowing her protagonists to own their lives and be proud of who they are despite the daily setbacks."

The story is about three women living in Tel Aviv who are trying to make it in the city while balancing their personal beliefs and traditions. Leyla (Mouna Hawa) is a lawyer by day but goes about her night doing whatever she wants in the underground scene. She shares a small apartment with Salma (Sana Jammelieh) who is a lesbian DJ. Apparently, Salma finds it hard to keep her secret lifestyle from her conservative Christian family.

They are joined by Hijab-wearing student Nour (Shaden Kanboura) who arrives unexpectedly to occupy the spare room in the apartment. Together, the unlikely friends discover their personal truths while going about their complicated lives in the heart of the city.

"In Between" is currently showing in theaters nationwide.
