Apple has recently rolled out the iOS 11.0.2 patch, which is the second minor update released in two weeks following the firmware's launch. The latest iOS 11 minor update offered several bug fixes for issues caused by the last iOS 11.0.1 release. Although, the main focus on the said iOS 11 patch is to fix the "crackling" sounds reported in iPhone 8 handsets.

As reported by NDTV, the iOS 11.0.2 update provided a fix to a few photos and e-mail bugs, which remained unresolved even as the iOS 11.0.1 patch arrived last week. However, the important part of this week's patch update is the fix for the "crackling" noise in iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus units. This issue is said to be reported by only a few users, where the distorted sound occurred when using FaceTime and making voice calls.

The iOS 11.0.2 patch is available for download for iPhone owners using iPhone 5S and above. iPad Air series and iPad Mini 2 and above users can also download the latest update, as well as the 6th generation of the iPad Touch. Users can download the iOS 11.0.2 patch by going to Settings, then General, then click on the Software Update. The Wi-Fi connection must be established as the download commences.

Upon the release of iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus in the market, some users had complained about the crackling sound in the calls, but Apple was quick to address the problem and promised to release the appropriate patch to fix it. Unfortunately, Forbes reported that the iOS 11.0.2 update introduced another problem for users, which is the battery drain.

Some people who recently installed the iOS 11.0.2 patch reported that their devices had their batteries drained out in just a short time. With this, there are now claims for Apple to release the iOS 11.0.3 minor update to solve the battery problem, although that seems unlikely as the iOS 11.1 is reportedly on its way. Apple has yet to talk about the battery drain issue after the iOS 11.0.2 update.
