iPad Air 2 deal: $60 off with Staples discount

iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3

U.S. retailer Staples is now offering discounts on selected items, including iPads and other tablets. Buyers can get as much as $60 on the current iPad Air 2.

The entry-level 16 GB variant of the iPad Air 2 is cheaper by $40, bringing the price down to $459 from its original price of $499. Meanwhile, the 64 GB and 128 GB versions of the tablet get $60 and $70 off, respectively. The new prices are $539 and $629 for the Space Gray, Gold, and Silver color options. According to News for Shoppers, the 128 GB variant is currently unavailable in its online store; however, it may be available in some brick-and-mortar stores.

Previous generations of iPads are also being sold at discounted prices. The 32 GB Wi-Fi model of the iPad Air with Retina display is being offered for $40 less and now costs $409. The 16 GB version of the iPad mini 2 Wi-Fi only gets $20 off, bringing the price down to $279 from its original price of $299.

Aside from iPads, Staples is also offering deals on other tablets, including the Microsoft Surface Pro 3, the Kindle Fire HD, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4, just to name a few.

This is not the first time that iPad customers are being offered generous discounts. Just last week, various retailers like Best Buy, B&H Photo and Video, and Adorama offered price cuts on Apple tablets.

The ubiquitous iPad discounts hint that an updated tablet is coming. As Apple recently handed out invitations to its March 9 press event, speculations have surfaced that Apple will announce the iPad Pro at the press conference. However, there is no confirmation from Apple yet about the tablet or the products it plans to reveal at the aforementioned event.

At any rate, the rumored iPad Pro will allegedly have a 12-inch screen panel with 2K resolution, A8X or A9 processor and M8 graphics co-processor, iOS 8 or iOS 9, and 11,000 mAh battery capacity. It is said to have thinner profile at 7 mm and will be 700 grams.
