iPhone 5S vs iPhone 6 specs comparison: How much upgrade was integrated in Apple's newest flagship?
Apple has been enjoying worldwide recognition for its technological breakthroughs since its inception. It is no doubt a leader in the tech subject with its flagships turning into milestones launch after launch.
In September, it took a monumental jump to release full-sized slates and they were, unsurprisingly, a smash hit. One of which is the iPhone 6, the direct upgrade and immediate successor to the iPhone 5S. What features has Apple left out and carried over from the iPhone 5S in crafting its flagship? Here is a comparison to track all that.
High-end aluminum casing is always an Apple asset. In choosing between the handsets based on design alone, let the unique taste of the user take over. However, they should take note the first conspicuous difference of the two, the thickness. The iPhone 6 is the company's thinnest handset yet with only 6.9mm. The iPhone 5S is at 7.6mm.
The iPhone 6 received a super upgrade in the display area. First off, the iPhone 6 sports a 4.7-inch screen with Retina HD display, which gives the handset an excellent contrast, better resolution and sharper details. It also comes with a 1334 x 750 screen resolution, which produces a 326 ppi pixel density. In a 4-inch screen and 1136 x 640 resolution, the iPhone 5S generates the same pixel density as its successor. However, for the two, it is the Retina that makes all the difference.
Both have 1 GB RAM. But the big transformation happened inside of the iPhone 6 that now packs a 1.4 GHz 64-bit dual core A8 processor, which warrants a more powerful performance than the iPhone 5S's 64-bit dual core A7 processor.
Meanwhile, the shooters remain untouched by any modifications. The rear-facing shooter is still at 8 megapixels with dual-LED flash and the front snapper stays at 1.2 megapixels. Video recording was somehow tweaked as the iPhone 6 can capture videos both in 30 fps (frames per second) and 60 fps at 1080, whereas he iPhone 5S allows video recording at 30 fps alone.
With a 1810 mAh battery inbuilt the new flagship phone, usage time is lengthened to 14 hours as compared to the 10-hour life of the iPhone 5S's 1560 mAh battery.
Color variants are still the same at Silver, Gold and Space gray but storage capacity for the iPhone 6 was very much expanded. The iPhone 5S has 16 and 32 GB. Now, the iPhone 6 has 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB.
Features in the iPhone 6 not found in its predecessor include the newest mobile payment service of the company, the Apple Pay, and the one-handed mode integration called Reachability.
The iPhone 6 is obviously the pricier one with a $650 price tag. The iPhone 5S costs $100 less.
