For those who avoided the rush last Sept. 19 but still want to get a new Apple smartphone, there are ways of getting the new iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus without burning a hole in their pockets.

Smart consumers can look at different ways on how they can get the new iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus without the need to shell out $199 or $299 upfront price, respectively. Some companies are offering the new Apple smartphones for less and, sometimes, for free.

U.S. carrier Verizon Wireless offers its subscribers up to $200 when they trade in their old iPhone 4, 4S, 5 and 5C. The price depends on the overall condition of the handset. The gift card can be used to purchase the new iPhone 6. Owners of iPhone 5S can get as much as $300. With these gift cards, people can take home the new iPhone 6 with no upfront price by just signing a new two-year contract.

Sprint, on the other hand, is offering a special "iPhone for Life Plan" with an unlimited data for $50 a month. Under this program, subscribers are guaranteed to pick a new iPhone every 24 months. Moreover, consumers who sign up for this plan can take home the 16GB iPhone 6 for free, but they have to agree to pay $20 on top of their monthly bill.

AT& T also offers the new iPhone 6 with no upfront price. Consumers can choose the different plan options such as the entry-level iPhone 6 for $32.50 per month for the 12-month plan, or $27.09 per month under the AT&T Next 18-month plan. Meanwhile, the 16GB variant of the iPhone 6 Plus is available for $37.50 per month for 12 months and $31.25 per month for 18 months.

T-Mobile is another aggressive carrier that offers subscribers over $350 for the iPhone 5S in a very good condition. However, some people opt to purchase the device from other retailers, such as Wal-Mart, eBay, Best Buy, among others.
