iPhone 6 launch event is happening today and Apple's web site is currently down as the company is prepping up for the posting of the new Apple devices as well as for the supposed pre-orders to commence on Friday.

Apple will finally unveil its latest flagship smartphone and other devices at a media event today at 10 AM. The star of the show is the new iPhone 6, which is rumored to be available in two variants. Partaking in the show is the iWatch, which Apple's bet in the wearable category. Moreover, the iOS 8 update will begin today.

Meanwhile, the Apple Store is undergoing maintenance as the company will update its pages and include the new devices to be announced today. Moreover, the tech giant is most probably preparing the site for the onslaught of pre-orders coming in Friday.

There is no word yet from Apple (as of this writing) as to when the pre-order of the device will start, but if Apple will follow its release pattern last year, the iPhone 6 should be available for preorder this coming Friday, with a launch a week later.

According to rumors, iPhone 6 will be available in two variants – one with 4.7 screen panel that is set to arrive next month, the other variant is set to pack a 5.5 inches screen display reported to arrive in October. Some of the other rumored features of iPhone 6 are 64-bit A8 processor, iOS 8, as well as improved fingerprint sensor and camera were some of the suspected features of the upcoming iPhone 6.

iPhone 6 will be released alongside iWatch, which is Apple's take on smart watch category. The upcoming unveiling event will be held in a new venue at the De Anza College campus. In the previous years, Apple usually held its iPhone events in Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco or on Apple's campus in Cupertino.
