It is already confirmed that Apple will be releasing a new iPhone by next month. However, instead of the expected iPhone 7, speculations suggest that the follow-up will be an iPhone 6 SE.

According to GSM Arena, leaked images out of China show that the next iPhone will be an iPhone 6 SE, not the expected iPhone 7 moniker. Although the Cupertino-based tech giant has yet to come out with concrete details on its next smartphone release, an iPhone 6 SE is highly possible. Previous rumors have already pointed out that this year's iPhone release is just an interim launch, and will only offer cosmetic improvements. Reportedly, Apple is targeting a major overhaul for its smartphone lineup starting with next year's iPhone, supposedly the iPhone 8. If the iPhone 6 SE launches next month, then next year's Apple release will instead be the iPhone 7.

If the iPhone 6 SE launches next month, it can be said that next year's iPhone will feature major improvements and tweaks. Rumor has it that Apple is thinking of switching to an all-glass construction, as well as OLED display, for its iPhones, starting with the 2017 edition. Apple may also improve on its camera setup, and may even put a dual-cam shooter as a major iPhone feature improvement.

Purported specs of the iPhone SE include the new A10 chipset, as well as iOS 10. In addition, it is said that the upcoming iteration will have a 4.7-inch display. If this is the case, it will be much different than the earlier iPhone SE release, which featured a smaller 4-inch screen. The iPhone 6 SE will be similar to the current-gen iPhone 6s in terms of display. Other features will most likely remain the same, like a fingerprint sensor, 3D Touch, and an iSight camera.
