Apple has recently been involved in a controversy where the company is accused of apparently slowing down older iPhone's performances in order to tempt users into buying new ones. Apple has already released a statement regarding the issue, but still, even with their new promise to introduce a feature that gives an in-depth check of an iPhone's battery health, it's still essential to know the easy steps whether the battery is still okay, if it needs replacement, or if it is time to upgrade to a newer device.

Apple's latest update will include the aforementioned new feature, so until it hasn't been released yet, users have a couple of options to check on their iPhone battery's performance.

The simplest thing to do is go to Settings and click Battery. If the message "Your iPhone battery may need to be serviced," then it's the time to go to the nearest cellphone repair shop and have the battery replaced. Of course, purchasing another Apple unit is an option too.

There are also a couple of battery health apps that can give users specific information about their device's batteries. The Console app and coconutBattery app are both good choices, but the iPhones need to be plugged in a Mac first before being able to glean the necessary information.

However, there are also users who don't trust third-party developers, so the only option for them is to contact Apple Support directly so they could make a diagnostic check on the device. There are two options to do this: one is to walk in the nearest Apple Store and have a licensed Apple device specialist run a diagnostic battery check on the phone, or contact Apple online support.

It is important to note that if an iPhone is running slow after a definite period of time, buying a new device isn't the only option. Once could get their batteries replaced, and thanks to the latest announcement made by Apple, iPhone batteries can be replaced for as low as $29, $50 less than the original replacement price.

There is no definite date whether the next iOS update will roll this 2018.
