The iPhone X is actually one of the worst performing iPhones at least when it comes to sales. People just could no longer get the new iPhone X and it seems quite an irony as it is supposed to be Apple's 10th-year celebration. To address this, Apple may be releasing an iPhone X "Lite."

When the iPhone X launched, a lot of people observed how it may have been the first time that Apple has a noticeably smaller line outside Apple stores during the launch. According to ValueWalk, a firm has conducted a study, on the people's perspective, on why the iPhone X failed.

A big 44% of the people interviewed mentioned that the primary reason was that their iPhone still works fine while 31% mentions that price was the biggest down factor. Of course, those who were contented with their current iPhones may also have thought about the high price of the iPhone X starting at $999 before tax.

Thus, analysts expect that to remedy the situation, Apple would release a sort of iPhone X "Lite" that will feature a much smaller screen compared with the iPhone X itself. This also makes sense as a reason for the big price of these phones is the organic light-emitting diode (OLED) screen with Samsung as Apple's supplier.

Per Forbes, the pressure is then on Samsung to lower the price of OLED effectively lowering the iPhone X costs. However, it is unlikely for Samsung to do so as lowering the price opens up innovations for their Chinese smartphone competitors such as Vivo, Huawei, Oppo and Xiaomi. This is aside from them being their competitor and that they are releasing the Samsung Galaxy S9.

That said, Apple will have to go back to the drawing board and remedy the situation within the company itself. It would be interesting to see the next iterations of the iPhone X they will be revealing.
