'Jane the Virgin' season 3 spoilers: can Rogelio and Xo restore their relationship?

Will Xo and Rogelio's relationship get better in "Jane the Virgin" season 3?Greg Gayne/The CW

Although things between Rogelio (Jaime Camil) and Xiomara (Andrea Navedo) were not looking good when fans last saw them, "Jane the Virgin" season 3 might turn it all around.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan, Navedo revealed that executive producer Jennie Urman is still putting the new season's stories together and has been making plans on what to do next with her character.

On the subject of Xo's romance with Rogelio, Navedo said that she thinks that her and Camil's respective characters are destined for each other. It is unclear if they will realize this in "Jane the Virgin" season 3.

"I think Xiomara and Rogelio are meant to be together. They may just have to be apart for a little while to kind of figure it out," the actress said.

When season 2 ended, Rogelio and Xo chose not to get back together despite their lingering love for each other. To add insult to the former's injury, the latter is pregnant with Esteban's (Keller Wortham) baby.

It remains to be seen how this will affect their relationship in "Jane the Virgin" season 3, but it looks like things between the two won't be in their best state in the new season.

In addition, Rogelio will be a bit preoccupied with the challenges of being a telenovela star. "Jane the Virgin" season 3 will see his show "The Passions of Santos" end and adapted as an American show titled "The Passions of Steve," where he will fight to keep his role.

As for Jane (Gina Rodriguez), the upcoming season will be extra special for her as she will finally lose her virginity. Although she already married Michael (Brett Dier), it does not mean that he will be the one to make that happen.

In the season 2 finale, Michael was fatally shot. His fate remains unknown and some reports claim that he will either fall into depression or will be in a coma for a while.

This will, of course, affect his marriage with Jane no matter how he turns out. It will also impact the how Jane will lose her virginity with her husband's complicated situation.

"Jane the Virgin" season 3 premieres Monday, Oct. 17 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
