National Basketball Association player, Jeremy Lin, sparked some controversy recently due to his choice of hairstyle. The player was seen sporting dreadlocks, and some people were disinclined to approve of it. Former player Kenyon Martin even sounded off his disapproval publicly. Fortunately, Martin and Lin were able to settle their differences even before the issue escalated.

In a report by Nets Daily, both Lin and Martin were able to have a long and meaningful conversation about the whole incident. Lin stated that Martin was the one who approached him first, and was "extremely apologetic" regarding the whole issue. Lin also stated that it is possible that Martin's comments were taken out of context and blown up disproportionately.

In fact, Lin wished that fans did not have to trade race-related insults on social media after Martin made his comments public. According to ESPN, Martin posted a video on Instagram, wherein he criticized Lin for wanting to "be black." Martin criticized Lin further by reminding people of his last name, which is obviously Asian. Furthermore, Martin implied that Lin would not be part of the NBA teams through the years if he had sported dreadlocks then.

They have even confirmed that Martin eventually deleted the post soon after that, and described Martin's remarks as "inflammatory." Despite the criticisms that Lin has received since the pre-season, he kept quiet and maintained his composure. Lin even thanked Martin for his past contributions to the Brooklyn Nets.

When the incident had caused quite a stir on the internet, Lin urged the people to calm down. Sadly, angry netizens had already caused severe potential damage towards Martin and his sons, since racial comments had been thrown their way as well. After concluding the conflict between Martin, Lin wished that his hair would not cause any more controversies ever again.
