Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald celebrate baby shower as due date nears
In a few weeks, Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald will be welcoming their first child as the "19 Kids and Counting" star is expected to give birth on Nov. 1. Before the special day, Jessa and Ben celebrated with a fall-themed baby shower in Highfill, Arkansas on Thursday, Oct. 15. According to Us Weekly, the party was attended by more than a hundred guests who included male family members.
While baby showers are traditionally thrown for a mom-to-be by female relatives and friends, a source told the magazine that Ben had been thinking about a "guy-friendly" shower ever since Jessa's sister, Jill, had her first baby shower for her child, baby Israel.
"He was definitely excited about this," said the source.
For the baby shower, Jessa wore a long grey skirt, a white top with a pink floral print, and a yellow cardigan. Meanwhile, the father-to-be donned a pink shirt and grey trousers for the party.
The magazine reports that games were played during the baby shower, which included a milk drinking competition for men and a diaper-changing contest for the ladies. The final competition was reportedly one that Ben came up with, and it involved him and three of his friends trying their hand at making baby food to see who can come up with the best-tasting one.
As for the party snacks, a source told the magazine that guests cooked their own hotdogs over a fire pit and the dessert station held pumpkin cake balls and pumpkin and pecan pies. Pink and blue Hawaiian punch was also served at the party, which kept guests guessing about their baby's gender.
As of the moment, Jessa and Ben have not revealed the gender of their baby, and on Thursday, Oct. 22, the 22-year old took to her Instagram account to post an ultrasound of her baby alongside baby photos of her and Ben. It was captioned, "Sitting here dreaming about the moment when we will meet our little one face to face…and wondering whether out baby will carry more Seewald or Duggar characteristics or features!" Jessa added that she thinks that their newborn will be "a sweet mix" of the two of them.
