"Jessica Jones" showrunner Melissa Rosenberg talked about the new relationships that will form in the show's upcoming second season. The edgy heroine of Hell's Kitchen – Jessica (Krysten Ritter) – will have some adventures in "The Defenders" debut first before her story continues in season 2.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Rosenburg shared that there will be new and unexpected elements added to the character's lives in "Jessica Jones" season 2.

"New and surprising relationships, who comes into each other's orbits and why," Rosenberg teased. Jessica and Trish (Rachael Taylor), along with the others in Hell's Kitchen will be pushed to new places that will bring excitement to the series' story development.

One possible new relationship in season 2 could be Jessica and Trish becoming romantic with each other, especially since Luke Cage (Mike Colter) has already moved on.

"People would love that," Rosenberg responded when asked by Esquire. Although she only sees Jessica and Trish as very intimate friends, she still acknowledges the possible development and teased, "one never knows."

It was reported that Jessica will be reunited with Luke Cage — along with Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) — in the upcoming series "The Defenders," which will debut before "Jessica Jones" season 2.

According to Rosenberg, a lot of details about the "Jessica Jones" sequel will be developed only after Jessica's part of the story unveils in the Marvel mash up series. Since Jessica will face Luke again after they separated on bad terms, how their relationship develops in "The Defenders" will play into "Jessica Jones" season 2.

Rosenberg shares that one of the writers from "Luke Cage" will be joining her in season 2 productions. "It's all connected, and it's all very important," Rosenberg explained.

In the comic series, Jessica ends up marrying Luke and they have a child together. A lot of fans are hoping that the two get the same ending in "Jessica Jones" season 2.

"Jessica Jones" season 2 debuts in 2018 while "The Defenders" premieres in 2017. Both shows will be available on Netflix.
