"Jessica Jones" season 2 will be less about the titular character and more about the people around her. This is what showrunner Melissa Rosenberg plans to do in the next season of the Netflix show.

She is very particular with exploring Jessica's (Krysten Ritter) best friend Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor). Rosenberg plans to hit two birds in one stone by peeling more layers of the character as she fleshes out her friendship with Jessica.

"I'm interested in continuing to explore the relationship between Trish and Jessica. That is the core relationship in the piece," she revealed to Entertainment Weekly.

"It is about female friendship, it is about how friends evolve — they're sisters, really — and it's about how they evolve and ping off each other," she went on to say.

Jessica and Trish's friendship deepened over the course of the first season. When they first met, they were almost at odds, but the season ended with both of them willing to do everything to keep each other safe.

In "Jessica Jones" season 2, the titular character will be seen longing for the sense of normalcy in her life, which her powers did not allow her to enjoy.

As for Trish, who has everything anyone could ever want (except of course powers like Jessica), it is about the idea of what she could do if he had the same gift (or curse) as what her best friend received.

"What [Jessica] envies most of Trish is her heart, I think, because Trish is such a giving, loving person, and is really about helping other people," Rosenberg explained.

"Jessica just can't quite get there. I think if she envies anything in Trish, it would be her generosity," she continued.

In "Jessica Jones" season 2, the two will, in some way, get to experience what they don't have through their friendship.

"Jessica Jones" season 2 premieres in 2018 on Netflix.
