Josiah Duggar from "19 Kids and Counting" is the latest Duggar kid to have entered the courtship stage, but sadly, things did not work out as well as he hoped.

Josiah, 19, started courting Marjorie Jackson, 18, last year, but they parted ways just four months after.

The Duggar family did not reveal why the Josiah and Marjorie's relationship went south, only saying that they are "thankful for the time getting to know each other" and will "continue to enjoy each other's company and close friendship."

Now, Josiah is opening up more about their split.

"Marjorie and I had a good time together," he told PEOPLE. "We were just trying to follow God's lead on everything. She didn't feel that it was the right timing then, so we called it quits for a bit."

Given Josiah's statements, it seems highly possible for them to rekindle their past courtship. Josiah remains very optimistic. For the meantime, he is trying his best to make changes for the better.

"We have time to grow... you never know," Josiah said. "But when you think about a girl to marry, you ask what kind of guy she would want to marry and you try to be that kind of guy."

The Duggar and Jackson families were so thrilled when the two youngsters entered into a courtship phase, with Jim Bob and Michelle heaping praises on Marjorie for being such an accomplished girl, having authored her own book and even speaking in several languages.

Josiah was impressed by Marjorie's devotion towards God and love for her siblings. Having 18 brothers and sisters of his own, Josiah can definitely relate to the bond Marjorie has with her own siblings.

As for Marjorie, she admitted that she was attracted to Josiah from the very beginning.
