Joyce Meyer shares how people can have real freedom through Jesus Christ
God loves you and He has an amazing plan for your life, says Joyce Meyer, but in order to experience real freedom through Jesus Christ, people must first learn how to trust in Him.
"It's important for us to understand what truth really is," Meyer wrote on her website. "Truth is the way things really are - not the way we think they are or would like them to be or wish they were."
And in order for people to have the freedom to be who God has created them to be and have the life Jesus died for them to have, then people must first face the truth. "And it starts by facing the truth about yourself," she stressed.
Meyer recalled a time in the past when she was praying for her husband Dave to change. As she was praying, God spoke to her heart and told her that it was not actually Dave who was the problem, but her. So for the next few days, Meyer changed her attitude and behavior. When things did not go her way, she resolved not to get angry.
"It was so hard! But I needed to face the truth about myself so I could have freedom from sin and the things that were keeping me from the love, peace, wisdom and joy that God had for me in Christ," she said.
It took time for Meyer to change, but day by day, little by little, she made progress. She said that sometimes people hide things in their hearts because it's hard to face or deal with, but when they don't deal with them, it causes problems in one's relationships and it steals the joys from one's life. And God wants to be a part of that problem-solving stage, says Meyer.
"I want to encourage you not to settle for anything less than the best life Christ has for you. If you're ready to do that, then pray this with me: 'Lord, in Jesus' name, I pray that You would examine me, prove me and test me, so that Your Spirit can lead me into all truth,'" she urged.
