Justin Bieber tweets his love for Jesus
Justin Bieber tweeted his love for his The City Church's Pastor Judah Smith and the Lord of Lords on Monday.
"@judahsmith love you. thanks for what you said. i love Jesus," the Canadian pop star wrote.
Later he tweeted a YouTube video of Hillsong NYC Pastor Carl Lentz at the MY City Conference 2014.
Bieber, Smith and Lentz are close friends and have in the past shared pictures of their time together on their social media sites.
In the talk shared by Bieber with his 51.2 million followers, Lentz invites people to know Jesus.
He starts out by talking about the power of worship in opening hearts to the presence of God, as he jokes about the churches of the "chosen frozen".
"The music part, that's not like a little thing we do to get to the message. Sometimes the music is better than the message. It's not Christian karaoke," he says.
"I talked to a young person who was just like this [he bunches himself together] in church and I was like 'how come?' And he was like 'I'm reserved'.
"And I'm like, it's funny cos I saw you dancing to a Drake YouTube video, you didn't look too reserved then and Drake ain't going to visit you in hospital when you're sick, and Drake's not going to save your soul.
"You might want to lift a hand or two, you might want to not be ashamed of the God who set you free."
He goes on to preach a word of encouragement from James 1 for people going through trials, tests and temptations.
"You need endurance to get through a trial, you need resistance to get through a temptation. Often people are like, oh the devil's tempting me.
"No he's not, you're making stupid decisions ... some of you need to delete some numbers out of your phone tonight."
Bieber has been open about his Christian faith throughout his meteoric rise to pop superstardom. But fame and phenomenal success have not been without their bumps on the road, as the 20-year-old star has had several run-ins with the law.
In January, he was arrested on suspicion of DUI at Miami Beach, Florida, and a petition on the White House website to have him deported from the United States has gained just under 274,000 signatures.
But he continues to take it all in his stride, regularly tweeting to his millions of fans that he is staying positive.
He tweeted yesterday: "some will hate....more will want to love. Letting the love in. Ignoring the hate. Keep it positive!"
