K-pop sensation BTS collaborates with Steve Aoki and Desiigner on 'Mic Drop' remix
Global Korean pop sensation BTS has confirmed it will collaborate with Steve Aoki and Desiigner to make a remix of its hit song "Mic Drop."
South Korea's Bangtan Boys, or more popularly known around the world as BTS, dropped the news on its Twitter account on Nov. 7. In the post, the boy group said the remix is a gift for its huge fan base. "Finally the release date has been revealed! Look forward to the 'MIC Drop' remix collaboration with Steve Aoki and Desiigner. I hope you think of it as surprise present for ARMY," the post said in Korean.
드디어 발매일이 공개됐네요!! 스티브 아오키, 디자이너와 함께 작업한 MIC Drop 리믹스 많이 기대해주시고.. 아미들을 위한 깜짝 선물로 생각해주세요 !!
Electro house musician Aoki and singer-songwriter Desiigner have earlier hinted at the collaboration on their social media accounts.
In late September, Aoki posted a photo of him while in South Korea. In the caption, he said it was from a meeting with the BTS production team. They were already celebrating their first, yet unknown, collaboration.
It was followed by another post showing the members of the boy group, which he called his "brothers."
A few days ago, it was Desiigner's turn to tease the joint project via Twitter with a short but meaningful post.
"Mic Drop" is a single from its fifth extended play, "Love Yourself: Her." The cheeky song brags of the group's international success with lines like "You thought I was gonna fail but I'm fine, sorry," and "Haters are already giving up/My success is already so golden."
"Mic Drop" remix will go live on Nov. 17, two days before BTS makes its first live performance on American television through the American Music Awards.
BTS rose to fame in the United States in March after it won Top Social Artist at the Billboard Music Awards, beating popular acts such as Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande and Shawn Mendes.
The seven-member boy group consists of Jin, Suga, Rap Monster, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook.
