Katy Perry news: Fan arrested for allegedly stalking singer
A KatyCat has been arrested in Miami for allegedly stalking his idol Katy Perry.
According to E! News, a man named Pawel Jurski was arrested in Miami after trying to get too close to the "Chained to the Rhythm" singer during her concert.
While Perry was performing at the American Airlines Arena on Wednesday night, the 37-year-old Polish man was caught in a restricted area, trying to rush toward the stage.
Later on when police asked Jurski about the incident, the man reportedly said, "I will do whatever it takes to be with Katy Perry."
The Miami Herald adds that Jurski did a similar stunt in Perry's Orlando concert the week before, but the singer's security was able to stop him from rushing through the VIP area.
According to Perry's head of security, Jurski was the same man they kicked out of Faena Hotel in Miami Beach also last week, after going up to the facility's 14th floor to try to meet the superstar.
Upon further questioning, the police also found out that Jurski has been following the singer around the country for the past 20 days as she performs for "Witness: The Tour." This includes Perry's previous shows in Orlando, Tampa, Atlanta, Chicago, and Grand Rapids. It added that Jurski first tried to approach the singer at two of her shows in Canada.
The defendant appeared in court on Thursday for felony charges of aggravated stalking and escape, as well as misdemeanor charges of loitering and resisting arrest.
Perry has yet to comment on the incident. The 33-year-old singer was on her world tour for her fifth studio album, "Witness," when the confrontation happened. She is currently on a holiday break, but is slated to resume her tour on Jan. 5, at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, with Carly Rae Jepsen.
Despite the incident, the "Hey Hey Hey" singer has nothing but good vibes to share with her fans, who she fondly calls as KatyCats.
In an Instagram post shared on Dec. 21st, she thanked them for their endless support.
"I'm humbled that you still give me your nights out to connect with you live all over the world and remind me of the place in your hearts that you hold for all these songs," she said in the post.
