Keith Thurman vs Floyd Mayweather fight rumors: Thurman calls out Mayweather for 'One Time' bout

Keith "One Time" Thurman is coming off a rousing win over Luis Collazo and believes that he deserves to be considered as a potential opponent for Floyd Mayweather Jr. this coming September.

With Mayweather yet to name his opponent in his alleged farewell fight, Thurman has called out the undefeated American boxer to fight him. Thurman is not among the list of mentioned fighters that Mayweather has in mind and apparently Thurman is hoping that Mayweather was watching his last fight.

Despite coming out victorious, there are many who believe that Thurman was far from impressive in gaining the attention of Mayweather.

This had to do with the fact that Thurman got hurt in the fifth round when Collazo connected with a perfect left that visibly made Thurman reel. The fight was stopped in the seventh round when Collazo suffered a nasty cut above his right eye, making it hard for the American boxer to see and continue the fight with Thurman.

With Thurman's adrenaline high from the win, it was only expected that he would call out Mayweather afterwards. The routine seems to be automatic seeing recently triumphant fighters like Shawn Porter wanting to get a piece of the undefeated Mayweather.

But then again, the decision on who Mayweather will fight will entirely be up to him. As we are in the midway point of July, a September fight could prove to be a disadvantage to whoever he decides to face.

Amir Khan is still the leading candidate based on rumors, while the only names that Mayweather has mentioned are Andre Berto and Karim Mayfield. Many feel that Berto and Mayfield do not necessarily fall in the "solid opponent" criteria but the answer to that lies on one man alone – Mayweather.

As far as Thurman is concerned, his name was never in the mix and apparently he is making a last ditch effort to throw his name in the mix. On whether his tactic will work or not depends on Mayweather who is expected to make an announcement soon on who he will face as he goes for the 49-0 record held by boxing great Rocky Marciano.
