Kim Kardashian is on a new quest – to save BlackBerry phones from extinction.

The "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" main cast member shared her love for the Canada-based mobile brand during the Oct. 27 press conference with Kara Swisher from Re/code.  The reality show celebrity confessed that she is addicted to her BlackBerry phones, and she buys spares on eBay in case the phones become extinct or the company decides to shut down.

"People are horrified that I have a BlackBerry," Kanye West's wife explained. "And I don't understand that reaction. A BlackBerry is my heart and soul. I love it. I'll never get rid of it."

The social media star said that though she has an iPhone that she uses for all her social networking sites and for taking images, she cannot live without a BlackBerry phone to send emails and personal messages.

Since there was a decline in the sales of BlackBerry phones over the last couple of years, Kardashian admits that she has been hoarding the phones from eBay.

"I buy them on eBay. I have like three lined up in my room... so that if one breaks and I'm down to two, I search on eBay for that third," Kardashian said.

"I'm afraid it will go extinct. I'm on a mission to make that not happen," she added.

She even stated that if she could, she would buy the company to keep it from shutting down.

BlackBerry had been falling behind the mobile phone market over the past years because of the emergence of smartphone brands such as Apple's iPhone, Samsung's Galaxy line, and other Android-powered devices.

The company, however, is staging a comeback this year as they released the latest BlackBerry Passport line last September.  They also unveiled on Wednesday the signature BlackBerry Classic that has the same appearance as the earlier released BlackBerry phones.

With this new development from BlackBerry, Kim Kardashian might not need to horde old phones after all.
