Apparently, "Kingdom Come: Deliverance" cost nearly a kingdom to make, as the developers of the game have estimated the development cost at $36.5 million.

They did sell as much as one million copies already at $60 each copy, meaning the costs have certainly been recuperated. Though, this also puts "Kingdom Come: Deliverance" in the same league as other AAA game titles which have had nearly the same amount of development budget. This is quite puzzling since "Kingdom Come: Deliverance" began first as an indie video game and was actually crowdfunded.

It is worth noting that the one million-copy milestone of "Kingdom: Come Deliverance" is shared across all its gaming platforms, namely PlayStation 4 (PS4), Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. Additionally, the said budget generated from crowdfunding only amounted to $1.5 million, which is certainly a far cry from $36.5 million, though that amount reportedly included marketing for the game, which is actually a big chunk of expenses.

Simply put, there were other budget sources that the developers have tapped into for the development of "Kingdom Come: Deliverance. This also makes the game something of a hybrid between an indie title and an AAA title known for its stellar budget. For all fans know, "Kingdom Come: Deliverance" could turn into another production value category of its own since the developers were keen on their game not being recognized as either an indie title or an AAA game.

Martin Klima, executive producer for "Kingdom Come: Deliverance" claimed that "I don't see 'KCD' as competing with the likes of 'Assassin's Creed' or 'Shadow of War.' We simply don't have resources to create a game like that. I don't view us as an indie game either, though. The trend I see in 'real' AAA games, like the ones I mentioned above, is toward making games more and more forgiving, better suited to the most casual and absent-minded players; they are games that in effect are 'playing themselves.'"

Whatever budget category "Kingdom Come: Deliverance" falls into, it seems the game will continue its successful trend in the market, all the better for the future projects of the developers.
