LA Lakers NBA 2015 trade news: Will they retain or trade their draft pick?

Wikipedia

Only a couple of days are left until the 2015 NBA Draft and so far, the teams that will be drafting are left unscathed.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are picking first followed by the Los Angeles Lakers though rumors have been flying in the past days that the Lakers are not content with who they could get and that trades could be possible.

As of to date, there have been a lots of inquiries with regards to possible trade scenarios for the Lakers' pick but nothing has been branded serious and of interest. The 2015 NBA Draft will be on June 25, 2015 and unless a deal is struck, the Lakers will be selecting as scheduled.

If the Lakers do select, there is no guarantee as well if the number 2 overall pick of the 2015 NBA Draft will either be Jahlil Okafor or Karl-Anthony Towns, depending on who the Timberwolves select.

The Lakers reportedly have their sights on D'Angelo Russell as well which could disrupt the mock drafts expected to happen on draft night.

Either that or the Lakers could be drafting and then trading or perhaps not drafting at all in exchange for one valuable asset. Those are the scenarios up in the air right now and Mitch Kupchak has said that they are open to practically anything leading to the 2015 NBA Draft.

The Lakers are looking to create a new team but the NBA Draft is not their only focus. They are also expected to make wild pitches for players like Kevin Love, Marc Gasol and Dwyane Wade once NBA Free Agency starts, somehow giving an idea that the coming NBA Draft is secondary is somewhat secondary to how Kupchak and the Lakers intend to rebound next season.

So will the Lakers trade away their draft pick or retain whoever it is they have in mind? We will surely find that out in a couple of days with the 2015 NBA Draft less than a week away.
