'Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild' DLC news: Master Trials brings Hard mode to Hyrule

Players of the "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" are in for a treat. Months after its release, the beloved game for the Nintendo Switch is getting something that will definitely push Link to the limit, as if the story is not already doing that for him. This week, Nintendo announces two add-ons that will bring players on their toes, and that first one is called the Master Trials.

The Master Trials is one of the upcoming updates for the "Breath of the Wild" that will be released this summer. According to Siliconera, the trial will add new modes in the game and new items that will help Link in his quest.

One of the modes available in the Master Trials downloadable content (DLC) is called the "Hero's Path." Nintendo describes this option as a brand-new feature in the game's map. In this mode, the game will record every step Link takes and mark it green. The map will be able to do this for the last 200 hours of Link's footsteps.

Another mode introduced in the "Breath of the Wild's" Master trials is called "Trial of Sword." Polygon reports that this mode was previously known as the "Cave of Trials Challenge." In this trial, Link wakes up without armors and weapons to defend himself in a place full of enemies. The goal is to defeat these enemies to advance to the next level. In total, the trail offers 45 rooms. The trial may seem difficult; however, if all rooms are conquered, players will be allowed to use the Master Sword in its most powerful state.

The last option brings hard mode to Hyrule. This option increases difficulty for Link's battles as it allows players to meet more high ranking enemies. Under this mode, Link will also have a tougher time sneaking up to his enemies as they will be able to detect his movements easily. Lastly, these higher-level enemies will also gain the ability to slowly regenerate as they engage in battle.

The Master Trials is the firstof the two DLCs announced for "Breath of the Wild." The second one is to be released during the holiday season. The two DLCs can be purchased as an expansion for $19.99.

"Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" is now available for the Nintendo Switch and Wii-U worldwide.
