'Legends of Tomorrow' season 1 finale spoilers: Green Lantern rumored to appear

It was previously reported that a special DC superhero is set to appear in the upcoming season 1 finale of "Legends of Tomorrow" and it was initially speculated to be Booster Gold. However, according to a report from Cinema Blend, there are now speculations that this hero might be Green Lantern.

According to the report, "Suits" actor Patrick J. Adams is set to appear in the season 1 finale and that he is portraying the Green Lantern instead of Booster Gold. However, instead of portraying Hal Jordan, it is pointed out that his version of the Green Lantern will be Alan Scott, from the Golden Age of DC Comics.

Hal Jordan, who first appeared in 1959 when DC rebooted their comics and changed many of their heroes, got his powers and his ring from an alien and became a member of a group of Green Lanterns that protect the galaxy. Alan Scott came from an older period of DC Comics, in 1940, and got his powers from a magical meteor.

Like Hal, Alan could create anything using the power of concentration and imagination and had the power of flight. He also had the ability to travel through time. In the "New 52" reboot that took place in 2011, Scott was reimagined to be gay and gained his powers when a train carrying him and his fiance Sam crashed.

In both versions, Scott's only weakness is that his powers do not affect botanical life, which allows weapons made of wood or creatures like Solomon Grundy to bypass his magical shields.

Scott also constantly battled Vandal Savage, who is portrayed in "Legends of Tomorrow" by Casper Crump. This connection indicates that the Green Lantern the show will introduce will be Scott instead of Jordan. It is also speculated that this choice was made in order to let the movie universe use Jordan and the other popular Green Lantern, John Stewart.

The "Legends of Tomorrow" season 1 finale airs on May 19.
