The LG G4 smartphone was announced and released back in April of this year. In June, the new handset was made available in the U.S. via wireless carriers AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile.

The LG G4 currently has a removable 3,000 mAh battery. According to a benchmark test carried out by Phone Arena, the original LG G4 battery was able to last up to six hours only.

In addition, reports say that buyers will also receive a bespoke rear cover that is available in black, white, and gold colors.

Recently, it was revealed that the South Korean giant LG is planning to release a new super premium smartphone sometime by the second half of this year. Reports say the new move intends to improve the company's market share and increase the number of sales. The report adds that LG also plans to reduce the prices of some of its products as part of the new strategy.

Also, it was revealed last month that LG's chemical division had developed a new hexagon-shaped battery that can fit into a small wearable device such as smartwatches. Phone Arena reported that this new battery technology is capable of increasing battery life by 25 percent.

South Korean firm Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. had also claimed earlier that it had developed a new technology that is capable of increasing the battery life of smartphones by twofold.
