One of the anticipated Android smartphones next year is the LG G4, and rumors say that the device will pack a sapphire screen and the new Snapdragon 801 SoC.

The LG G3 smartphone garnered attention and following, thanks to its fair specs and features along with a reasonable price as well as the company's good track record with the handsets it made for Google – the LG Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. In the recent past, LG was not even on the map as a smartphone maker. However, the South Korean tech company managed to attract consumers due to its hardwork and consistency in giving high quality handsets.

According to the grapevine, the LG G4 will be released in May 2015 just like its predecessor, the LG G3. Although the LG G2 was released in August 2013, the tech company learned to release its devices earlier so as not to lose to its Android-based rivals, namely Samsung, HTC, and Sony, all of which announce their communication artillery early.

Whispers also claim that the LG G4 will have a strong sapphire screen, just like the new Apple Watch (but skipped in iPhone 6 handsets). If this particular rumor proves to be true, then the LG G4 will have an edge over other smartphones because of its strength. Apple is currently under fire because of its brittle screen.

As for the processor, LG G4 will be one of the smartphones that will be powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 chipset, which was announced early this year. It is expected that the chipset will also power other Android smartphones such as Samsung Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9.

Meanwhile, the latest LG G3 packs a 5.5-inch screen display, a quad-core Snapdragon 801 chipset, Adreno 330 graphics chip, the latest Android operating system, 13 MP back camera, and 3000 mAh battery. Buyers can take home the device for $99 with a two-year contract with carriers offering the smartphone.
