So far, the only high-end device coming from LG this year is the LG V30S ThinQ smartphone, which was unveiled at the previous Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. While the gizmo offers new and impressive AI capabilities, the public would have preferred to see a completely updated version of last year's LG V30. With this, the rumor that the LG V40 could arrive this November is a good sign that the South Korean tech firm is pushing through with the V30 successor.

As reported by the South Korean tech publication ET News, LG is likely to launch the V40 smartphone later this year, possibly in September to November period. Based on the previous releases of the LG V series handsets, the arrival of the LG V40 should be expected in late summer. However, LG has not yet finished the production of the G7 smartphone, which will serve as the company's flagship for this year. The LG G7 is now expected to be out in May, which is two months behind schedule. Thus, there will be a trickling effect on LG's other devices, and the LG V40 will be delayed until November.

In spite of another delay from LG, this rumor is very much welcomed by the V series followers as some people already assumed that the LG V30's successor will not be present this year. This is because of the existence of the LG V30S ThinQ, which could be end up being the V series' latest iteration in 2018. In fact, this is the first time that an LG V40 release was even considered to happen in the near future, knowing that LG is currently experiencing financial issues that put its current smartphone collections in jeopardy.

At this point, the only LG device that is more likely to see the light of day is the LG G7. Rumor has it that the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm's latest high-end processor, the Snapdragon 845 SoC. Previous leaks also suggest that the LG G7 will sport an iPhone X-like notch display and bezel-less appearance. It might be safe to assume that these premium specs will eventually catch up on the LG V40 once it is finally released. Also, the V40 is expected to receive the same AI features of the LG V30S ThinQ, with a possibility of further enhancing the Voice and Vision AI functions.
