Lil Peep's cause of death, net worth news: YouTube star possibly died of drug overdose from Xanax
The new and emerging rapper Lil Peep was found dead for a possible drug overdose on Wednesday, Nov. 15. He was 21. Born Gustav Åhr, he was making a name in the hip-hop world and a known YouTube star before he died.
CNN confirmed the singer and rapper's death after a Tucson, Arizona's Police Department spokesman revealed the news. Law enforcement was called when the decease's manager saw the performer inside the tour bus unresponsive that night.
The first respondents tried to revive Lil Peep by providing medical aid, but, unfortunately, they were not able to save him. In a phone interview with the media company, Sgt. Pete Dugan said the police found "evidence of a possible drug overdose, most likely from Xanax."
He cleared there were no signs of foul play found in the scene; thus, the police believed he died from an overdose. However, his body still needed to be autopsied to know the real cause of his death. They also ruled out any kind of criminal activity as no signs of foul play were found.
Lil Peep had been known for combining emo and hip-hop to his songs. His singing and rapping style also emphasized his drug use. He released his first mixtape in 2015 and it was a great success. In the same year, he unveiled his first album, "Feelz."
He also had a number of great hits like "The Way I See Things," "Awful Things," "Benz Truck," and "White Wine." These songs have been watched for over 40 million times on YouTube. As of this writing, he now has 364,704 followers and a net worth of $100,000, Metro Online reported.
Meanwhile, in Lil Peep's Instagram posts, he had been sharing cryptic messages that seemed to hint his imminent death. "When I die, you'll love me," one of his posts read. In another post, he said he was homeless while he cussed in another one while sticking his tongue out in the picture.
