'Longmire' season 4 cast: Netflix launches casting call for new season extras

The sheriff's back in town.

It was not farewell for "Longmire" after all when A&E first cut the series short and disappointed fans and all the people who worked hard for the show. Thinking that "Longmire" was given an untimely and underserved departure, the cast and crew, pushed by the moral support of the fans of the series, sought for another network in order for them to continue telling Sheriff Walt Longmire's crime-solving tales in the Absaroka County. At long last, the crime-drama is finally and officially headed to Netflix.

After "Longmire" found a new home, the stars of the show expressed their delight through Twitter.

Lou Diamond Phillips tweeted, "The Saga continues! Very excited to see where S4 takes us with #LongmireOnNetflix Thanks @netflix We ride for the brand!" while Robert Taylor posted, "Awesome job posse, keep riding. Regards, Rob. #LongmireOnNetflix @LongmirePosse."

The fourth season remains to be a complete mystery but according to Ecumenical News, the series will continue on with the events (and the massive cliffhanger) during the third season, where the show's main man, along with Branch, try to get to the bottom of Nighthorse's involvement in a handful of crimes. Citing Breathe Cast as source, Ecumenical News added that the screen writing is already in full swing.

First reported by Enstarz, VC Post shared that the filming will formally commence in March. It was recently reported that a casting call for extras has already transpired. On Dec. 6, Netflix is said to have staged a search for additional actors for the show in Santa Fe.

While majority of the details are still shrouded in mystery, the news of a return is already a relief. Now, fans are assured that their much-loved drama series has not met its true end yet.

Previously, A&E deemed it high time for "Longmire" to pack up after a dramatic decline in viewership met the second and third season. Even so, the series formed a solid fanbase, which then helped the "Longmire" cast and crew snag a second chance for a well-deserved fourth season.
