Los Angeles Lakers roster rumors: Nick Young confident of staying in LA

Nick Young has been the subject of many trade rumors but from the looks of it, all that will not happen – at least not yet.

With the offseason in its middle stages, the Lakers have yet to figure out what to do with Young. But after Young's meeting with general manager Mitch Kupchak, it seems that Young will continue to play for the Lakers next season until something interesting comes along.

Young inked a new deal last year and has three years and $15.3 million left in his contract in Los Angeles. After hardly being a factor last year, Young has long been rumored to be on the trading block.

Compounding that fact as well was that his position has now become redundant.

Kobe Bryant is expected to be back in full health and the Lakers recently added Lou Williams to the lineup. Apparently, all three play the same position and that doesn't even take into account what the Lakers intend to do with Jordan Clarkson.

Clarkson has been playing a lot of point guard last season but with the entry of D' Angelo Russell, there is a chance that Clarkson could be playing some off guard next season.

Everything will depend on what head coach Byron Scott plans for next season for the team. Despite all that and with no takers, the team is stuck with Young and his contract whether he likes it or not.

For Young, it gives him the chance to prove his worth in the meantime. It could work out to see the Lakers keep him or it could help him ante up his market value and what he can bring to other teams.

Young is best known as a player who can put points in bulk and there will be teams who can surely use him. But the question right now is who.

There was word that Young could end up being traded in a deal involving Brendan Haywood with the Cleveland Cavaliers but nothing has materialized thus far.
